Beauty

Beauty- beauty is described as a personal opinion and outward reflection of your appearance.
Denial- the non-acceptance of the real way something is whether it  is ignored or just not believed.
Evil- A harsh meaning of something that is so horrible it is unspeakable.  Loosely used by alot of people but is actually more meaningful than just a word or definition.

A Modest Proposal

1.The real thesis of the story is that these Irish protestants are being treated so unfairly and inhumane that they are basically nothing so he sarcastically says that we should just eat the poor and starved children.

2.”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...”

The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couples who are able to maintain their own children, although I apprehend there cannot be so many, under the present distresses of the kingdom; but this being granted, there will remain an hundred and seventy thousand breeders. I again subtract fifty thousand for those women who miscarry, or whose children die by accident or disease within the year. There only remains one hundred and twenty thousand children of poor parents annually born. The question therefore is, how this number shall be reared and provided for, which, as I have already said, under the present situation of affairs, is utterly impossible by all the methods hitherto proposed. For we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture; we neither build houses (I mean in the country) nor cultivate land: they can very seldom pick up a livelihood by stealing, till they arrive at six years old, except where they are of towardly parts, although I confess they learn the rudiments much earlier, during which time, they can however be properly looked upon only as probationers, as I have been informed by a principal gentleman in the county of Cavan, who protested to me that he never knew above one or two instances under the age of six, even in a part of the kingdom so renowned for the quickest proficiency in that art.
3.I realized it was not real during paragraph 4 when he started talking about eating the babies and how delicious they are.
4.The rich were targeted and under attack and the poor people or the irish people were the victims of it all.

5. Yes I believe it is completely a satirical attack and that he is not being serious about anything he says in the story.

6.The last paragraph was to explain how swift is exempt from selling his children even after all he said about other people selling their kids.

7.I used to leave the toilets dirty during bathroom checks if my manager was being mean that day so that when i close the manger has to clean it after I left.

8.No i do not think enough people would be willing to give their babies away to sell them.
There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas! too frequent among us! sacrificing the poor innocent babes I doubt more to avoid the expense than the shame, which would move tears and pity in the most savage and inhuman breast.

Thurbers Satire

The story of the Little Girl and the Wolf was very similar to Little Red Riding Hood except this story ended with the little girl shooting the wolf with and automatic and killing him. The stories ending was very surprising because i have heard the other fable before so I expected a different ending.
The Bear is about a Bear with a drinking problem and starts destroying his house.  I have never heard a similar story to this.  He surprised me when he said how after the Bear quit drinking he did not get any better because he was still doing the same things.  That is also the satire in the story when he doesnt even change and still puts his family in distress.

the pictures

The Lion was chasing the mouse when he ran into a trap and was picked up by the net then the mouse stood on the net and teased the lion.

The woman in the picture grew up in a jungle and lived with this lion and now she has been rescued and returned to civilization and brought her soul mate back with her.

The mermaid discovered a young boy who was drowning and seh attempted to save him but he was dead by the time she got to him.  Now she holds him and weaps sorrow that she could not have got to him sooner.

The ants were gathering food for the winter when all of the sudden a grasshopper showed up and tried to steal the food from the ants.  The grasshopper should have not been playing his violin and instead he should have been gathering food like the ants.

POEM the grasshopper
spending all summer without work, just play
shouldve got food instead of wasting days away
now he is confronted with troubling dismay
because he has no food with winter on the way
turned away by the ants, he feels betrayed
now he will die and his body will decay

The poor distressed girl in the picture is doing all of the hard work for her sisters while they do nothing but the fairy god mother is in the background about to help her out with some of the tasks.

Little red found herself wandering into a graveyard deep in the forest and now she is nervous and is looking for her grandmothers house but the wolf is hiding in the woods on her path.

They are all having lunch and tea while getting to know Alice but she does not much enjoy the company and is becoming frustrated with the mad hatter and the rabbit.  They are plotting an attack on the queen and trying to get out of the place the are stuck living in now.

They were testing a shrink ray on the man in the picture but when they used it on him the effects were reversed and he became a giant.  To keep him alive while they fixed the ray, the town had to gather him food and throw it into his mouth.

The woman lost an earring under one of the matresses and has to take them all off to find it so she is staring at them because she does not even know where to start with how many matresses there are.

snow white found all of her friends in the woods.  The sad part about the sory is she has no human friends and the animals see that so they try to treat her like a friend so she doesnt feel so lonely.

poem

Home to all that flies
large empty space with nothing but clouds
below the stars lies the sky
on july fourth people gaze in crowds
tears from clouds turn to downpours
higher altitudes than the earth
Rain flooding through into houses floors

Duck Blind Lessons

I read about a man that had a special bond with his father and learned from observing his fathers actions and strength.  His father was a duck hunter and was extremely dedicated.  He and his father would wake up at 4 in the morning to go out to the cold wet swampy marsh and wait for the ducks to come to them.  He said how it was extremely uncomfortable with how cold it was but his father never wore gloves and hardly even zipped up his jacket because he did not need to stay warm.  His inspiring heat came from hunting the ducks and when he was at the swamp nothing else seemed to matter at the time.
