Beauty

Beauty- beauty is described as a personal opinion and outward reflection of your appearance.
Denial- the non-acceptance of the real way something is whether it  is ignored or just not believed.
Evil- A harsh meaning of something that is so horrible it is unspeakable.  Loosely used by alot of people but is actually more meaningful than just a word or definition.

A Modest Proposal

1.The real thesis of the story is that these Irish protestants are being treated so unfairly and inhumane that they are basically nothing so he sarcastically says that we should just eat the poor and starved children.

2.”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...”

The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couples who are able to maintain their own children, although I apprehend there cannot be so many, under the present distresses of the kingdom; but this being granted, there will remain an hundred and seventy thousand breeders. I again subtract fifty thousand for those women who miscarry, or whose children die by accident or disease within the year. There only remains one hundred and twenty thousand children of poor parents annually born. The question therefore is, how this number shall be reared and provided for, which, as I have already said, under the present situation of affairs, is utterly impossible by all the methods hitherto proposed. For we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture; we neither build houses (I mean in the country) nor cultivate land: they can very seldom pick up a livelihood by stealing, till they arrive at six years old, except where they are of towardly parts, although I confess they learn the rudiments much earlier, during which time, they can however be properly looked upon only as probationers, as I have been informed by a principal gentleman in the county of Cavan, who protested to me that he never knew above one or two instances under the age of six, even in a part of the kingdom so renowned for the quickest proficiency in that art.
3.I realized it was not real during paragraph 4 when he started talking about eating the babies and how delicious they are.
4.The rich were targeted and under attack and the poor people or the irish people were the victims of it all.

5. Yes I believe it is completely a satirical attack and that he is not being serious about anything he says in the story.

6.The last paragraph was to explain how swift is exempt from selling his children even after all he said about other people selling their kids.

7.I used to leave the toilets dirty during bathroom checks if my manager was being mean that day so that when i close the manger has to clean it after I left.

8.No i do not think enough people would be willing to give their babies away to sell them.
There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas! too frequent among us! sacrificing the poor innocent babes I doubt more to avoid the expense than the shame, which would move tears and pity in the most savage and inhuman breast.

Thurbers Satire

The story of the Little Girl and the Wolf was very similar to Little Red Riding Hood except this story ended with the little girl shooting the wolf with and automatic and killing him. The stories ending was very surprising because i have heard the other fable before so I expected a different ending.
The Bear is about a Bear with a drinking problem and starts destroying his house.  I have never heard a similar story to this.  He surprised me when he said how after the Bear quit drinking he did not get any better because he was still doing the same things.  That is also the satire in the story when he doesnt even change and still puts his family in distress.

the pictures

The Lion was chasing the mouse when he ran into a trap and was picked up by the net then the mouse stood on the net and teased the lion.

The woman in the picture grew up in a jungle and lived with this lion and now she has been rescued and returned to civilization and brought her soul mate back with her.

The mermaid discovered a young boy who was drowning and seh attempted to save him but he was dead by the time she got to him.  Now she holds him and weaps sorrow that she could not have got to him sooner.

The ants were gathering food for the winter when all of the sudden a grasshopper showed up and tried to steal the food from the ants.  The grasshopper should have not been playing his violin and instead he should have been gathering food like the ants.

POEM the grasshopper
spending all summer without work, just play
shouldve got food instead of wasting days away
now he is confronted with troubling dismay
because he has no food with winter on the way
turned away by the ants, he feels betrayed
now he will die and his body will decay

The poor distressed girl in the picture is doing all of the hard work for her sisters while they do nothing but the fairy god mother is in the background about to help her out with some of the tasks.

Little red found herself wandering into a graveyard deep in the forest and now she is nervous and is looking for her grandmothers house but the wolf is hiding in the woods on her path.

They are all having lunch and tea while getting to know Alice but she does not much enjoy the company and is becoming frustrated with the mad hatter and the rabbit.  They are plotting an attack on the queen and trying to get out of the place the are stuck living in now.

They were testing a shrink ray on the man in the picture but when they used it on him the effects were reversed and he became a giant.  To keep him alive while they fixed the ray, the town had to gather him food and throw it into his mouth.

The woman lost an earring under one of the matresses and has to take them all off to find it so she is staring at them because she does not even know where to start with how many matresses there are.

snow white found all of her friends in the woods.  The sad part about the sory is she has no human friends and the animals see that so they try to treat her like a friend so she doesnt feel so lonely.

poem

Home to all that flies
large empty space with nothing but clouds
below the stars lies the sky
on july fourth people gaze in crowds
tears from clouds turn to downpours
higher altitudes than the earth
Rain flooding through into houses floors

Duck Blind Lessons

I read about a man that had a special bond with his father and learned from observing his fathers actions and strength.  His father was a duck hunter and was extremely dedicated.  He and his father would wake up at 4 in the morning to go out to the cold wet swampy marsh and wait for the ducks to come to them.  He said how it was extremely uncomfortable with how cold it was but his father never wore gloves and hardly even zipped up his jacket because he did not need to stay warm.  His inspiring heat came from hunting the ducks and when he was at the swamp nothing else seemed to matter at the time.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

This was a story of a man who was in the military and while he was in Iraq he met a young man who was running food and supplies to an outpost.  While he was in the car he hit a landmine and it exploded the car, instantly killing him and severely injuring the others in the car with him.  He will never be forgotten by the man who now wears a bracelet with his initials and date of his death on it to keep him strong in hard times.  It is called the Ultimate sacrifice because he believes there is nothing bigger than giving your own life for your country.  He mentions that the military does not teach you how to cope with the loss of friends or training for how to emotionally handle yourself after traumatizing accidents.

Ryan and Kyle

Once upon a colossus deuce, there was a faceless juvenile whom loved to assasinate presidents.  He was a very brauny fellow with a tibia the size of a pool cue.  As the juvenile was walking in a medow of tulips, a giant bird encircled him as it waited to dive.  The bird dove beak first intio the juvenile's tibia and it snapped with a kkkkiiiirrrrpppooowwwww!!!!!!!  Excrutiating pain surged through his body as he let out a girlish scream.  Suddenly, a sixties hip ballad began to play as he rose towards the light.  "so this is what contraception is like" said the juvenile.  But little did the foamy brained juvenile know, he had just died a ruthless death.

Action words

Walking into class late with my friend, I tried to keep the left side of my face hidden from the teacher so that I could inform my friend with a wink that I was keeping the truth from the teacher.  The teacher then asked "why are you two so late today?", he did not have time to make up a story so he just shrugged his shoulders and and lloked at the teacher with a blank stare.  I gave him a quick elbow nudge and whispered "getting gas".  He then quickly answered, "We were late because we had to stop and get gas this morning and then we got pulled over by the police."  After he answered her question I was bitting my lip nervously and astonished with the second half of his response to the question.  "why did you tell her we were pulled over by the police?"  He said, "because that is more time."  What an idiot.  This was not even a believable lie but luckily my teacher didnt ask any mroe questions.

Squishy The Mouse

There once was a mouse named squishy that lived in the now empty cage that sits upon my desk.  He was named squishy after we found him underneath our cat's paw being squished.  We had seen him running around the house many times before but noone could ever catch him because he was too fast.  Once our cat cought hime injured squishy so bought him a cage and started feeding him and taking care of him like a pet.  After living in the cage for a while we started taking him out and playing with him and he has never once bit us or tried to hurt anyone.  One day, about a year after we got Squishy, our little cousin Andrew came over for thanksgiving. The  child, and my brother and I groaned as his stuck-up family pulled into the driveway in their fancy new Mercedes Eagle. He was just as I remembered him, a selfish and cruel child. He ran upstairs into my room and saw poor Squishy. He grabbed the cage and started to shake it, but I grabbed it from him and gave him a spankin, and he went off crying frantically. I knew that my evil cousin was going to find a way to get  me back and i could only imagine how he was going to do that. So that night when everyone was asleep i heard a huge explosion coming from downstairs in the basement. I looked in the the mouse's cage and squishy wasnt inside.  I needed revenge.  I took my cousins prized cowboy action figure and attached it to a stick of dynamite.  As i pushed the plunger down another small explosion echoed through my nighborhood leaving nothing but a scortch mark on the sand where the cowboy had been seconds prior.

my cousin now wide wake from the explosions. ran out to me and saw the remnents of his prized action figure. tears streamed down his face, but soon his sadness turned rage and he faced me shouting insults and attemtping to kick me as a i laughed and walked away. "Pineapple soundes good right now" I thought as i made my way inside out house and turned on the TV. As the screen flashed on FOX news was reporting on Spain where the "running of the bulls" was taking place. As i wastched the spaniards evade the angierd bulls my cousin came in and we made up.

It was a Friday night when my turn came to take the 10-pound plastic doll home.
Friday finally came, when I remembered what my responsibilities were for the night I imagined doing as my little sister used to do as a child and spend an entire night playing with a large plastic doll,  as you can imagine I could not wait.
I then decided to name him Tyler.
After countless hours of staring at this plastic nightmare, I decided the best suitable name for him must be Tyler.
Because it was Friday night, there were a lot of people waiting in line to get a table.
Like every restaraunt on a friday night, there were swarms of people coming in and out of the restaraunt but most just crowded the foyer while they waited impatiently for a host to seat them according to their list.

Hellen Keller

1.  I liked the narrative because it was very insightful..
2.  What I found interesting was how fast she learned her first few words and how she was able to just pick it up how she did.
3.  I was suprised that she learned so much from her teacher just making signs on her hand.
4.  It did not change my outlook on her because I have read about her before.
5.  I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten--a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me.
I was keenly delighted when I felt the fragments of the broken doll at my feet.
Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen?
6.  A Narrative is more engaging because it is a specific story of something that happened to you in your life instead of just a summary of your life.

I am from long days in the sun,
Gallons of aloe gel soothing and cooling my back.
I am from Vacations at my Grandparents Florida house,
Driving and flying twice or three times a year.
I am from the backyards of my neighbors,
From trampolines to driveway basketball courts,
From breaking my elbow after flipping off of the trampoline,
and from broken ankles on the basketball courts at the park,
I am from rough blistered hands from monkey bars at Worthington Park.
I am from countless hours spent on ski lifts,
Coasting down the mountains with all my friends.
I am from days and nights spent in hospitals after all my injuries and broken bones,
I am from the Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster,
I am from orange slices at halftime of soccer games,
from the coldest morning games to the hot day games.
